How much does a wedding cost in 2027? What pushes the price up or down, wherever you marry

An average wedding costs about $34,000 in the US, £20,600 in the UK and CZK 280,000 in the Czech Republic. Behind the gap are the same few forces everywhere: guest count, labour costs, imported goods and the date you pick. Here is how each of them is likely to move in 2027.

“How much will it cost?” comes right after “yes”. The honest answer depends far more on where and how many than on taste. The good news is that the things that move the price are the same in Chicago, Manchester and Prague, so once you understand them you can plan with confidence anywhere.

In short

  • USA: about $34,200 on average, 117 guests, $292 per guest (The Knot, couples married in 2025).
  • UK: £20,604 on average, £278 per guest, and almost flat for three years (Bridebook 2026).
  • Czech Republic: about CZK 280,000 (roughly €11,500) for around 60 guests (WeMarry, 2025).
  • 2027: nobody has a reliable average yet. Services and wages are rising faster than general inflation, so expect vendors to cost a few percent more, not less.

Look at the per-guest column first. The total differs a lot, but most of that gap is simply how many people are invited. An American wedding has almost twice as many guests as a Czech one. Bridebook sees the same inside the UK: a 50-guest wedding averages about £15,200, while 120 guests or more push it past £26,000.

Why the same wedding costs different amounts in different places

Flowers: local in Europe, imported in the US

In Europe, most wedding flowers travel by truck from European growers and the big Dutch flower auctions. In the United States, most cut flowers sold come from other countries, mainly from South America. When import tariffs rose in 2025, small businesses serving weddings (florists, caterers, dress shops) paid noticeably more in tariffs than the average small business, and many passed it on to couples (Bank of America Institute, June 2026). If you marry in the US, flowers are one of the budget lines most exposed to trade policy. In Europe, they mostly follow the season.

Venues: historic buildings are ordinary in parts of Europe

In Central Europe, castles, manor farms and old barns are a normal place to get married rather than a luxury. A farm venue for a whole weekend in the Czech Republic typically costs CZK 100,000 to 120,000 (about €4,000 to €5,000). The average UK venue hire alone is £6,040 before catering (Bridebook). Venue and catering together take about half of the budget almost everywhere, so where you hold the reception matters more than any other single decision.

Labour: weddings are mostly people's time

Cooks, waiting staff, photographers, musicians, hairdressers: a wedding is far more labour than goods. That is why it costs more in places with higher wages, and why wedding prices rise faster than general inflation whenever wages do.

Gold and diamonds: one world price

Rings are the one item priced almost the same everywhere, because gold trades globally in dollars. It has been high and volatile in recent years, so a quote can change within months. Lab-grown diamonds have gone from under 1% of the diamond market in 2016 to around 15% and sell at a steep discount to mined stones, which has made engagement rings cheaper for many couples (BofA Global Research).

2027: what will push prices up

No credible survey has measured 2027 weddings yet, because wedding data is collected after the fact. Be wary of anyone quoting an exact “average cost of a wedding in 2027”. What can be tracked are the forces behind vendor prices:

  • Services keep outpacing goods. In the US, wedding-related spending per customer was up 8.5% year on year in early 2026, more than double the pace of the two previous years (Bank of America Institute). In the Czech Republic, the central bank expects inflation of about 2.5% in 2027, but more than half of services are rising by over 5% a year (Czech National Bank, August 2026).
  • Wages. Many countries are raising minimum wages. The Czech minimum wage, for example, goes up 11% to CZK 24,900 in January 2027 (Czech Ministry of Labour). Catering and venue staff are a big part of what you pay, so this shows up in quotes sooner or later.
  • Popular dates. Late spring and early autumn are peak season almost everywhere. In the US, May is the busiest wedding month, followed by October and September (Bank of America Institute). Long weekends and memorable dates fill up first and vendors are less willing to negotiate.
  • Social media expectations. Over a third of Americans surveyed said social media has raised expectations and pushed up wedding costs for everyone involved, for example by adding content creators to the day (Bank of America Institute).

What can keep the price down

  • Fewer guests. Still the biggest lever, in every country.
  • Off-peak dates. A Friday, a Sunday, a weekday or a month outside peak season. UK couples are already shifting towards smaller guest lists and off-peak dates, which is one reason their average has stayed flat (Bridebook). Some Czech venues price weekday hire for 2027 about a third below weekends (example price list).
  • Booking early at today's prices. Many vendors honour the price in the contract you sign now. Ask whether it is fixed.
  • Re-wearing and renting. Over 41% of Americans plan to re-wear or restyle something they already own when they are a wedding guest (Bank of America Institute), and renting outfits is increasingly normal for couples too.

How to budget for 2027

If you are pricing a 2027 wedding from this year's quotes, add roughly 5 to 8% to services (venue, catering, music, photography) and 2 to 3% to goods. That is not a forecast of what weddings will cost, just a sensible buffer based on how service prices and wages are moving right now. Then keep an extra 10% for the things everyone forgets: tips, vendor meals, transport and accommodation for family.

Keep the budget in one place

Weddings rarely go over budget because of one big item. It is fifty small ones. Set a ceiling and a guest count first, then track the planned amount, what is already paid and when each balance is due. In only.wedding the budget sits right next to the guest list and the replies, so you can see headcount and money together. It is free to start.
